Private Households: Demand for Multi Skilled, Cross Functional Staff

Private households in the US are shifting toward a leaner staffing model, where one highly capable professional replaces what would previously have been two or three separate roles. Families are now prioritising candidates who can operate confidently across multiple sectors of household support, rather than specialising in just one area.

Professionals who can combine housekeeping with light cooking, childcare support, wardrobe management, vendor coordination or administrative assistance are in particularly high demand. Estate managers who can also handle PA duties, or senior nannies who can support family travel and organisational tasks, are becoming the preferred choice for many principals.

This trend has grown rapidly as families look for individuals who can adapt, pivot between responsibilities and maintain high standards without the need for larger teams. Flexibility, broad experience and cross functional capability have become some of the most valued qualities in today’s US household market.
